Performance and Teaching of Cardiovascular and Resistance Training

During my Spring 2024 semester, I decided to do an honors contract in my Performance and Teaching of Cardiovascular and Resistance Training course. When talking to my professor about doing an honors contract, I explained that I wanted to do something that would allow me to practice skills I would use as a life coach. He helped me come up with the idea of making a three-month resistance training program and a three-month cardiovascular training program for a fake client. Throughout the semester, I would make workout plans, and on certain weeks, he would comment on what my client achieved so that I could correct the plans.

Reflection

This honors contract allowed me first-hand experience creating workout plans for clients. My professor commented on certain weeks in my program, telling me what my clients could accomplish and what they liked, which I found very helpful. Those comments gave me the opportunity to practice stewarding my exercise programs toward people, which is what I will be doing in the future. Practicing these skills solidified my plans to become a life coach because I enjoyed every moment.
